IGNITE Academy
Overview
The ASU-Newport IGNITE Academy provides high school students from area school districts an opportunity to earn workforce-ready credentials in high demand industry fields while simultaneously earning their high school diploma. We are excited to announce that IGNITE Programs are now available on both the Newport and Jonesboro campuses. Upon graduation from high school, students completing the IGNITE Academy will have earned transferrable credits and certificates of proficiency in one or more areas of study. Students who complete this two-year program will have gained skills necessary to be successful in workplace and post-secondary settings whether they choose to enter the workforce or continue their education.
Certificate of Proficiency- Corrections (12 Credits)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION – The curriculum is designed to provide students with a basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and prepare them for entry-level employment in the criminal justice field.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES - Career opportunities include corrections officers and jailers.
Certificate of Proficiency: Certified Nursing Assistant (7 credits)
Certificate of Proficiency: Phlebotomy (8 credits)
Prerequisites: Practical Nursing (13 credits)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program prepares students to enter the health care profession as a Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Phlebotomy Technician.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: Career opportunities for graduates include Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Phlebotomy Technician in acute care, long term care, and community service settings.
Certificate of Proficiency – Truck Service and Maintenance (8 credits)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION – This program prepares students for entry level positions in the over the road truck/trailer service and maintenance industry.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: Career opportunities for graduates include trailer maintenance and service technician and truck maintenance and service technician
Certificate of Proficiency - Manufacturing Welding (6 credits)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION – This program prepares students to enter the manufacturing workforce as an entry-level wire welder
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: Career opportunities for graduates include wire welding as a manufacturing welder, production welder, fabrication welder, and maintenance welder.

Technical Certificate – Advanced Manufacturing (30 credits)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program prepares students to enter the workforce as a CNC Machine Operator.
Certificate of Proficiency: Technical Operator (9 credits)
Certificate of Proficiency: Industrial Maintenance (15 credits)
Technical Certificate: Advanced Manufacturing Pathway to Industrial
Maintenance (30 credits)
