Dr. Typhanie Myers

Dr. Typhanie Myers was appointed Provost/Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs in 2023. She earned her Ed. D in Organizational Leadership (2018) and a master’s in education administration (2006) from Grand Canyon University. In 2002, she completed her B.S.E. in Mid-level Education after transferring from Ozarka College where she earned her AA in General Education in 2000. She holds an Arkansas teaching license and a PK-12 Principal license. Dr. Myers completed the Arkansas Community College Leadership Institute in 2020 and Newport New Vision Leadership in 2019.

Dr. Myers has over twenty years of experience in education, which spans secondary and community college—both independent and system. She has served in various roles including faculty member, program director, Dean for Applied Sciences, Dean for Nursing and Health Professions, and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

As ASUN’s Provost, Dr. Myers oversees all academic programs and faculty, including Liberal Arts, STEM, Nursing and Health Professions, Applied Sciences, Prison Education, and Workforce Training. She also provides leadership and support for program assessment and accreditation, faculty and staff development, student advising and retention efforts, student engagement and support services, grant development, efficient budgetary management, and technical and occupational education through various venues including concurrent and secondary career centers. Dr. Myers also serves as the college’s Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Higher Learning Commission.

Dr. Myers cultivates relationships with community, business, education, and industry leaders to foster innovation and generate vision. She works with local school administration, state boards, and faculty and staff to develop and expand programs and increase enrollment while remaining committed to student success and institutional effectiveness. Dr. Myers believes in the power of education and the direct impact that community colleges have on the lives of students and the economic health of communities. She values a team mentality that provokes visions to become reality through trust, respect, communication, and hard work.

Dr. Myers has recently relocated to the city of Newport and is involved in various volunteer efforts and is a member of the Newport Chamber of Commerce. She is the proud mom of two very successful daughters—Allison Shands (state auditor) and Abrianna Franke (Freshman Honors student at A-State).
