ASUN Nursing grads earn 90% board pass rate

NEWPORT (Ark.) – Arkansas State University-Newport is proud to announce the traditional Registered Nursing students who graduated in December 2022 achieved a 90.4% pass rate on the NCLEX, the National Licensing Examination for Nurses.

Of the students who took the exam, 19 passed on their first attempt, demonstrating the high-quality education and training they received at ASU-Newport.

"We are thrilled with the success of our nursing graduates," said Dr. Typhanie Myers, Provost/Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at ASU-Newport. "Their hard work and dedication paid off, and we are confident they will make a positive impact in the healthcare field."

The NCLEX is a rigorous examination that assesses the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level nursing practice. A high pass rate is a testament to the quality of the nursing program at ASU-Newport and the dedication of the faculty and staff.

Stacie Hay is the Dean for Nursing and Health professions at ASUN, and she commended the nursing faculty for their commitment to helping their students succeed. “I am so proud of our nursing faculty for this success, they have done an excellent job taking this program to new heights.”

Nursing is a high-demand career field, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting that employment of registered nurses will grow 7% between now and 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. This growth is driven by an aging population and increasing demand for healthcare services. ASU-Newport is committed to providing students with a strong education and hands-on experience that prepares them for successful careers in the healthcare industry.
