In observance of Black History Month, Arkansas State University-Newport is excited to host acclaimed author, Clifton Taulbert. This former migrant cotton field worker is now an award-winning author, a TIME Magazine recognized entrepreneur, an educator and CEO of two companies.

Taulbert will present on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 6 p.m. inside the ASU-Newport Center for the Arts. The auditorium is located at 7648 Victory Boulevard in Newport. This presentation is free and community members are invited to attend.

Taulbert is the founder of the Freemount Corporation, an international human capital consultancy, and the President and CEO of Roots Java Coffee, an African American owned national coffee supply company.

Taulbert is the author of 14 books including Once Upon a Time When we Were Colored and The Invitation. At many of his speaking engagements, he talks about how building an affirming community is a lifetime endeavor—one where the commitment and the work is passed from one generation to the next.

He was even a guest of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor where he addressed members of the court.

On February 7, Taulbert will share his journey to success while empowering communities to do the same!

This event is sponsored by Arkansas Steel Associates, and ASU-Newport is thankful for their support in bringing this presentation to Northeast Arkansas.
