Prepare to Repair and Succeed! ASUN Diesel Technology Program

Diesel Technology students working in the training lab with an instructor.

According to the September 2020 Bureau of Labor Statistics Report, Job Outlook Employment in the U.S. for diesel service technicians and mechanics is good, projecting to grow 3 percent from 2019 to 2029. And, the percentages in Arkansas are even better – a 12% increase in diesel tech jobs over the next six years! Job prospects will be best for those who have completed post-secondary training in diesel engine repair.

So, what’s post-secondary training?  Simply put it's college, but not just any college. Diesel technology training is hands-on work on real trucks that hit the road!  More training equals more dollars in your pocket!  And, in just 9 short months, you can earn your technical certificate in Diesel Technology at ASUN.

Our Diesel Technology training program puts you to work in the training lab, servicing our own fleet of diesel trucks used in our Commercial Driving Training Program.  More hands-on experience means you are ready to go to work upon completion of the program.

Our ASUN instructors teach teamwork, safety, and leading-edge technology through partnerships with companies like Dogget Freightliner of North Little Rock.  Graduates of our program can jump into careers in diesel repair that include commercial transportation, farming operations, or even owning your own repair business. Starting wages can be up to $19/hour, which averages out to $40,000+ a year.  Diesel technicians in Arkansas can earn up to $58,000 a year.

If you are someone who has a passion for fixing things, wants a great salary, does not mind getting a little dirty, and thrives on teamwork in a changing work environment, then Diesel Technology is for you! Find out more about ASUN’s Diesel Technology program here.
