Academic Advising Days: Helping Students Succeed!

Advising

At Arkansas State University-Newport, academic advising refers to a shared responsibility between advisors and students to exchange information in order to help students reach their educational and career goals. Through conversation, advisors can help students design a plan for success based on an assessment of the student’s abilities, interests, and values. Advisors will assist students with enrolling at ASUN, creating a degree plan, and registering for classes. Advisors can also help connect students with campus resources, provide guidance on using ASUN’s online resources, and answer questions students may have pertaining to admissions, financial aid, degree options, or college life in general.

To help facilitate this learning process, ASUN has developed Academic Advising Days scheduled throughout the summer months. Both new and returning students are encouraged to select a date, time, and location convenient to their schedule to meet with an academic advisor.

Academic Advising Days will be offered:

  • 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00
  • Tuesdays on the Newport campus in the Center for Workforce Advancement (Room 111)
  • Wednesdays on the Jonesboro campus in Room 302
  • Thursdays at the Marked Tree campus in the Testing Center

Please be sure to submit the following items BEFORE attending an Academic Advising Day:

  • Transcripts from any other colleges you have attended
