Overview
Want to work in the operating room? Surgical technologists — often called scrub techs — are healthcare professionals who assist surgeons, pass instruments, and maintain sterile environments during procedures. It's a hands-on healthcare career you can start in just 12 months at ASU-Newport.
Surgical Technology involves all areas of surgery requiring aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation. A surgical technologist is a valuable part of the operating team, responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, passing instruments and anticipating the needs of the surgeon, handling bodily tissues, and assisting with wound care. Technologists work in all surgical areas with skills in the operating room, instrument processing, material management, and labor and delivery.
ASUN's Surgical Technology program is available at our Newport and Marked Tree campuses and produces competent, entry-level surgical technologists in just 12 months after acceptance into the program (18 months including prerequisites). Start your career as a Surgical Technologist today.
