SOAR Textbook Program (Renting)

The ASU-Newport offers a great rental program that allows students in most academic programs to rent textbooks for $20 per credit hours. This program is designed with students in mind and gives them seamless access to all of the textbooks they need while saving them money.

Buying Your Books (Purchasing to Keep)

Unfortunately, there are some programs and/or courses that are not eligible for the rental program. ASUN accepts various methods of payments to use to purchase books.

How to use your Financial Aid in Acquiring your Books ( AKA Charging Books/ Book Voucher Process)

ASUN degree-seeking students who have adequate financial aid awards on their student account will be able to charge their eligible books and supplies against their financial aid awards. Access will begin one week before the start of the term and end at 4:30 p.m. CST on the last business day of the second week of term. Financial aid will cover those charges, up to $500 of your accepted aid balance. If your order exceeds your financial aid and/or if you are renting a title, you will need another form of payment to cover the remaining balance and/or secure your rental.

Do I need to rent or purchase my books? 

Below is a list of courses and programs that are not eligible for the SOAR Textbook program and students will need to purchase their materials and supplies.

Buy Online: The ASUN Bookstore charges a flat rate for shipping your books to your door! The flat rate is only $10. The bookstore will be processing your orders to make sure you have the materials you need for a successful term. Click here to order your books!

Pick-Up: To promote safety and wellbeing, students who wish to pick up their books on campus will pick them up via the “drive-thru” style. For the “drive-thru” style, students have the option to drive their vehicles (or walk with appropriate social distancing and PPE) up to the ASUN Bookstore “window” on each campus to obtain their books.

If you are picking up your books on campus, please have the following items ready!

• Student ID OR Valid Government ID 
• Current ASUN Schedule (must have ASUN ID on the course schedule 

ASUN provides convenient drop boxes on each campus in which you can return your books. Pay close attention to return deadlines each semester and return the books in good condition. Books returned after the deadline will be charged a late fee of $15 per book. For each book unreturned or damaged, your student account will be charged $65 per book. Students will have a hold placed on account for any unpaid fees. Transcripts or grades will not be released until fees are paid and holds are cleared.
