Program Overview

The Production Welding Microcredential at Arkansas State University–Newport provides training in essential welding skills for manufacturing careers, with a focus on MIG welding techniques. The program covers workplace safety, quality practices, and foundational employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Students learn to identify hazards, follow safety regulations, and apply measurement and inspection processes to meet industry standards.

The curriculum includes hands-on lab training where students perform fillet welds on carbon steel in flat and horizontal positions. Graduates earn industry-recognized credentials, including OSHA 10 certification, and are prepared for entry-level roles as production workers or MIG welders in manufacturing environments.
