Program Overview

The Certified Production Technician (CPT) 4.0 Microcredential at Arkansas State University–Newport provides industry-driven training for careers in advanced manufacturing. Developed by the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, the program covers core areas including safety, quality practices and measurement, manufacturing processes, and maintenance awareness. Students learn OSHA standards, inspection and process control, production systems, and basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

The hybrid curriculum combines online learning with hands-on lab experience, allowing students to build practical skills in a flexible schedule. Graduates can earn multiple certificates and the nationally recognized MSSC CPT 4.0 credential, preparing them for entry-level to front-line supervisory roles in manufacturing. The program emphasizes safety, efficiency, and technical competency, helping students qualify for high-demand, high-wage production careers.
