Fast Track — Packaging Machine Operator

Program Overview

The Packaging Machine Operator microcredential at Arkansas State University–Newport provides training for entry-level roles in food manufacturing, with a focus on operating and maintaining packaging equipment. Built on the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council Certified Production Technician framework, the program covers safety, quality practices, manufacturing processes, and maintenance awareness. Students learn OSHA standards, HACCP principles, inspection and documentation, and basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

The curriculum combines online instruction with hands-on lab experience, allowing students to develop practical skills in a flexible format. Participants can earn multiple industry-recognized credentials, including OSHA 10, MSSC certifications, and the National Career Readiness Certificate. Graduates are prepared for packaging machine operator roles in food manufacturing, equipped with the technical skills, safety knowledge, and production expertise needed to succeed in high-demand environments.
