Program Overview

The CNC Operator Microcredential at Arkansas State University–Newport provides training in the essential skills needed for entry-level roles in advanced manufacturing. Developed with input from local industry, the program focuses on CNC lathe operation, workplace safety, and quality practices. Students learn OSHA safety standards, measurement and inspection processes, and how to operate CNC-controlled turning centers, including basic setup and introductory programming.

The curriculum combines online instruction with hands-on lab experience, allowing students to build practical machining skills in a flexible, accelerated format. Participants can earn industry-recognized credentials, including OSHA 10 and career readiness certification. Graduates are prepared for CNC operator and other machine operator positions, with the technical knowledge and skills needed to succeed in high-demand manufacturing environments.
