ASU-Newport Extends Nursing Application Deadlines to December 13
NEWPORT, Ark. — Arkansas State University-Newport has extended application deadlines for its nursing programs to December 13, 2026, giving prospective students additional time to prepare for a career in healthcare.
The extension applies to ASUN’s Traditional Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing and LPN-to-RN Transition programs. Students who still need prerequisite coursework have an opportunity to complete eligible courses during the college’s upcoming Flex 2 term, which begins October 12 and ends December 11, before the application deadline.
“If you’ve been thinking about becoming a nurse, there’s still time to get started,” said Dr. Typhanie Myers. “By extending the deadline, we’re giving students the opportunity to finish needed prerequisites during Flex 2 and be ready to apply in December. We encourage anyone who’s interested to reach out now so we can help them take that next step.”
Current ASUN students should speak with their academic advisor to review completed coursework, identify remaining prerequisites and determine which Flex 2 classes meet the requirements for their intended nursing program. New students should visit asun.edu/getstarted to begin the enrollment process and connect with assistance.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to act now to allow time for course registration and preparation of required application materials. Prerequisite needs vary by program and each student’s academic history. Admission to ASUN and admission to a nursing program are separate processes, and applicants must complete the requirements for both.
