ASUN Hosts JCCT's On Golden Pond
NEWPORT (Ark.) — Arkansas State University-Newport invites the community to the ASUN Center for the Arts for Jackson County Community Theatre’s production of On Golden Pond, with four performances scheduled October 17–25, 2026.

Written by Ernest Thompson and directed by ASUN’s Digital Marketing Manager, Jake Eddington, On Golden Pond tells the story of Norman and Ethel Thayer, an aging couple spending another summer at their lakeside home. A visit from their daughter, Chelsea, and an unexpected friendship with a teenage boy bring new energy to their familiar routines and an opportunity to reconnect. Blending sharp humor with tender moments, the play explores family, forgiveness and the relationships that make life meaningful.
“The arts bring people together and give us opportunities to see ourselves and one another in new ways,” said ASU-Newport Chancellor Ike Wheeler. “We’re proud to welcome Jackson County Community Theatre to the ASUN Center for the Arts and support the local talent that makes productions like this possible. We hope our neighbors will join us and experience what this community can create together.”
The cast features Wally Smith as Norman, Judy Brandon as Ethel, Raven Gates as Chelsea, William Jackson as Billy Ray Jr., Dustin Moore as Bill Ray, Jonathan Ward as Charlie and Kathy Gardner as the Operator.
By hosting the production, ASU-Newport brings local performers and audiences together on its Newport campus, supporting community engagement through the arts. Community members are invited to enjoy an evening or afternoon of live theatre while supporting the local cast and crew.
