ASU-Newport Empowers Students to Navigate in 8 with New 8-Week General Education Courses
NEWPORT, Ark. — Arkansas State University-Newport (ASUN) is excited to launch its Navigate in 8 initiative — giving students the opportunity to complete core General Education courses in just 8 weeks at the Newport campus.
Starting Fall 2025, students can enroll in accelerated courses during two shortened terms:
- First Flex Term: August 18th – October 10th
- Second Flex Term: October 15th – December 12th
This flexible format allows students to move through their academic journey faster while maintaining quality and support.
“ASUN is committed to meeting students where they are,” said Dr. Typhanie Myers, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs. “The Navigate in 8 model helps students build momentum toward their degree while balancing work, family, and life. It’s about flexibility, focus, and finishing strong.”
A few courses available during the first 8-week term include:
- College Algebra
- College and Life Skills
- Composition I
- General Chemistry I & Lab
- Human Anatomy & Physiology I & Lab
- Introduction to Computers
- Oral Communication
- Principles of Sociology
- The United States to 1876
- World Civilization to 1660 AND MORE!
All classes will be held onsite at the Newport campus and are designed to help students advance without sacrificing academic quality. New
