At Arkansas State University-Newport, we offer high school students the unique opportunity to jumpstart their college education through our Dual Enrollment and Concurrent Enrollment programs. Whether you're interested in taking college courses on our campus, online, or at your high school, these programs provide a head start on earning college credits, challenging yourself academically, and experiencing college life. 

What Option is Right for You?

Both Concurrent and Dual Enrollment allow high school students to earn college credit before graduation, but they work a little differently.

Concurrent Enrollment is offered through a partnership between ASUN and your high school, while Dual Enrollment allows you to take ASUN courses independently on an ASUN campus or online.  Explore the options below to find the path that best fits your high school experience and college goals.

Concurrent Enrollment

Details

Concurrent Enrollment involves college level courses taught on the high school campus or online by credentialed high school faculty. This program offers a convenient way for students to start earning college credits without leaving their high school environment.

Location

Students attend these classes at their high school or online through ASUN.

Cost

This can vary based on the partnership a high school has with ASU - Newport. Please discuss the cost of concurrent credit with your counselor or career coach.  Students taking ASUN courses while still in high school may be eligible for the ADHE Concurrent Challenge Scholarship.

Dual Enrollment

Details

Dual Enrollment allows high school students to take courses on an ASU-Newport campus or online, with a mix of high school and college students. This program is ideal for students who want to get a head start on college by earning credits early, challenging themselves academically, and experiencing college life while still in high school. Typically these courses are not counting for any high school credit and students are taking them outside high school hours.

Location

Students attend classes either on an ASUN campus or online alongside ASUN students.

Cost

Students are responsible for paying tuition and fees for the courses they take, as well as purchasing their textbooks. However, students taking ASUN courses while still in high school may be eligible for the ADHE Concurrent Challenge Scholarship.
