Emergency Medical Technician

Overview

Medical Emergencies are the life of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).  EMT's rescue victims of an accident or a disaster. You'll see them in ambulances, fire trucks, hospitals or in helicopters. They are everywhere that help is needed! EMTs learn the essential skills to help in life-threatening situations and now is the time to start your career with ASU-Newport!  At ASU Newport we train EMTs to respond and provide medical assistance in emergency situations. 

Students who have completed the EMT program from ASUN have been employed by Medic One, Emerson Ambulance, and various Fire Departments.

Emergency Medical Technician
Certificate of Proficiency

This program is not eligible for Financial Aid.
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program meets the requirements of the Arkansas Department of Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services and the guidelines of the Department of Transportation. Completion of the program will allow the student to take the National Certification Exam at their level of training. Criminal background checks are required for all EMT students prior to testing. 

Length of Program: 1 semester

Campus Availability: Newport

Course Availability: Fall, Spring

Students will be responsible for payment of state and national testing fees, criminal background checks, and uniform requirements. These costs will occur at different time points throughout the program.
