Newport (Ark.) – Arkansas State University - Newport proudly announces that its Beta Nu Gamma Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has been awarded the prestigious 5-Star Chapter Status for 2023, the highest accolade achievable within the society. This honor signifies the chapter's commitment to academic achievement, leadership, and community engagement.

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society that emphasizes academic achievement at two-year colleges. To be eligible, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and complete at least 12 hours of credit. As the largest honor society in American higher education, PTK encourages student growth and development through leadership and service programs.

The Beta Nu Gamma Chapter’s journey to this esteemed recognition involves a series of focused initiatives:

REACH: Effective recruitment, induction, and reporting of new members, officers, advisors, and administrators, highlighted by a successful induction ceremony.
NETWORK: Active participation in regional events, including the Regional Meeting in Hot Springs, which provided invaluable training for the Honors in Action Project.
LEAD: Collaborative College Project initiatives, notably the planning and execution of Fall Fest 2023.
DISCOVER: Rigorous academic research within the Honors in Action program, leading to impactful applications of the findings.
ENGAGE: Comprehensive training in the PTK Edge professional development system for both students and advisors.
