Overview

To get started with ASU-Newport, simply decide what type of student you will be while you're at ASUN.  

If you are attending ASUN and want to receive a degree please click on the arrow beside "Get Started and Earn a Degree at ASU-Newport".  

To take a few classes that you'll use for your degree elsewhere click on the arrow beside "Get Started as a Visiting Student".  

ALL APPLICANTS: If you have attended ASU-Newport in the past and have not taken classes in one academic year, example July 1st, 2017 - June 30th, 2018; you must reapply for admission to ASU-Newport.

Get Started and Earn a Degree at ASU-Newport

Step 1: Complete the University Application

To begin the application for ASU-Newport simply create an account after clicking on the following link, ASU-Newport Student Application

Please take your time and answer the questions to the best of your ability. Information that is incorrect may cause a delay in the processing of your application. Once the admissions application is submitted, the Admissions Office will review it and contact you via your personal email that you provided when creating your MyCampus account. 

Step 2: Submit Required Documents

Please submit your admissions items according to your student type.

Transfer:  I am transferring to ASUN from another college!

Visiting:  I am not seeking a degree; just taking a few classes!

All students who want to enroll Composition I & College Algebra must meet minimum score requirements:

*If you are a First-Time Entering Student and you were enrolled in a concurrent education program through your high school, please provide an official transcript from the college who sponsored the concurrent program at your high school.

**If you are a Transfer Student and you will use Veteran’s Administration (VA) benefits, you must provide an official transcript from each college you attended prior to ASUN.

College Transcripts must be sent directly from the college you attended or delivered to ASUN in a sealed envelope.

Additionally, these documents can be mailed to  ; uploaded to your ASUN MyCampus Account; or mailed to ASUN Admissions, 7648 Victory Blvd., Newport, AR 72112. If you are applying to a special program (Cosmetology, High Voltage Lineman Technology, Nursing, or Surgical Technology) please submit your program application packet with all program application materials according to directions on the academic program page on the ASUN website. Step 3: Complete your FAFSA

Don't miss out on financial aid and scholarships! Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid today! 

Completing the FAFSA is free and only takes about 30 minutes to complete. It is important to complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility for local, state, and national scholarships!

Step 4: Schedule a Meeting with a Navigator

Schedule an appointment with a Navigator to get enrolled in courses (when appropriate), review financial aid eligibility, learn about scholarships and other student supports resources. For first-time entering ASUN students, meeting with a Navigator is a REQUIRED step to enroll in classes. Use the link below to schedule a time with a Navigator!

Note: All appointments with Navigators will be virtual until ASUN enters Phase III of the Return to Campus Plan. ASUN Plans to enter Phase 3 beginning August 3, 2020. Updates will be made as needed.

Step 5: Review NSO Online Course

The Holistic Student Supports Team has created a great resource for all things that you need to support you during your time here at ASUN! The New Student Orientation (NSO) Canvas course is a free-course that is to be used as a go-to resource for you to access information from all areas of the institution (i.e. Canvas, Student Development, Financial Aid, Student Leadership, Information Technology Services, SmartThinking Tutoring, etc.).

Step 6: Start Class

Fall 2020 (Full term and Fall Flex I): August 17, 2020

Spring 2021 (Full term and Spring Flex I): January 19, 2021

Step 7: Bookstore

The ASU-Newport Bookstore offers a great rental program (S.O.A.R. Program) that allows students in most academic programs to rent textbooks for $20 per credit hours. The S.O.A.R. Program program is designed with students in mind and gives them seamless access to all the textbooks they need while saving them money.  To learn more about the textbook rental program click here.

Get Started as a Visiting Student

Step 1: Application

To begin the application for ASU-Newport simply create an account after clicking on the following link, ASU-Newport Visiting Student Application

Once the admissions application is submitted, the Admissions Office will review it and contact you via your personal email that you provided when creating your MyCampus account. 

Step 2: Submit Required Documents

As a visiting student, you will only be required to submit documents if you plan to enroll in courses that have prerequisites.  To enroll in these courses, you must submit ACT, Accuplacer, Compass, SAT scores, or unofficial transcripts listing completion of pre-requisite courses to our Admissions office by using the links below. For all other courses, you may enroll immediately after your application is completed and processed.

Step 3: Admitted!

Once you receive your admitted student communication, you are ready to enroll in courses!

Step 4: Enrolling in Courses

  1. Go to mycampus.asun.edu and log in.
  2. Select "Academics", then select "Online Registration"
    • On the enrollment dropdown, make sure it states "Visiting Student Program"
  3. Under "Term", select the term you wish to enroll in
  4. Hit the "Select" button to the far right
  5. On the next page, select "Begin Online Registration"
  6. Under "Course Search" there are 2 areas to select:
    • Under "Display" select "Elective"
    • Under "Search Results" click on the "+" sign (left side of class) for the class you wish to enroll.
  7. Click on the "Add" button
  8. Under Selected Courses click on "Proceed to Final Step"
  9. On the next page, click on the "Register/Drop1" button to submit your schedule
  10. On the next page, your classes will be listed under the "Course Schedule" tab

Step 5: Get your Books/Pass your Class

If you would like to look up or purchase your books you can find them through our ASU-Newport Bookstore.

Accessing your classes online: 
For many of our classes offered at ASU-Newport will either require portions of the course to be accessed throughout the week offsite from the internet. ASU-Newport uses Canvas LMS to house its courses. To access this website please use the instructions in the link below.

Step 6: Pay your Bill

Go to https://mycampus.asun.edu and log in.  Click on the link that says "Click here to View/Pay Your Bill" in the middle of the homepage.  Once the page loads, you should see a button that states "Make a Payment".  Select Account and enter an amount to pay.  Follow the instructions based on the method of payment.

Step 7: Get your classes transferred!

When you need your completed courses transferred to your home institution, click here to access the transcript and records request form. Complete and submit the form, and you're all set!
