2:00 PM Ceremony: General Education, Applied Science & Adult Education

  • Ceremony Time: 2:00 pm
  • Ceremony Location: Center for the Arts [CFA] –Newport; 7648 Victory Blvd; Newport
  • Graduate Check-In: 1:00 pm
  • Graduate Check-In Location: White River Hall—Building on the [R] just past the CFA

Ticket Information:

Due to graduate numbers, the maximum number of tickets for auditorium seating is three.

· Overflow seating will be available for additional guests.

· Before ceremony, Overflow seating will be directed to available seating in the auditorium.

Ticket Pick Up:

· April 29 [at noon] until May 9 [at noon] on the campus you listed on your Intent to Graduate.

· Tickets that not picked up will be available at the guest check in table in the CFA

Students participating in commencement must wear a black cap, gown, and a Persian Blue/Black tassel. Gowns must be zipped.

  • Technical Certificate and Associate degree candidates with a current cumulative 3.8 GPA will receive a medallion and gold cord at commencement check-in.
  • Phi Theta Kappa members wear a stole they receive with membership.
  • Veterans will receive a red, white, and blue cord at commencement check-in
  • Student Government Association officers will receive a blue cord at commencement check-in 

Before the commencement ceremony, the tassel is placed on the right side of the cap.  They are then switched to the left side at the end of the ceremony.

The top of the cap may be decorated, but must be non-distracting to the ceremony, other graduates, and guests.  Graduates will be asked to remove any adornments that are offensive or that do not comply with this policy.


  • Degrees & Certificates are awarded after all grades are posted and moved to history.
  • Diplomas are mailed after degrees are awarded. Note: December graduates may experience a slight delay due to the holiday break. Student accounts must be clear of holds and have a $0 account balance.
  • Diploma Covers are handed to the graduate on the stage during the commencement ceremony

  • Capping and/or Pinning ceremonies are held to honor students who are graduating from our Practical & Registered Nursing programs. Students graduating from these programs MUST attend the Capping and/or Pinning ceremony and are encouraged to attend the commencement ceremony
