Practical Nursing

About the Degree

The one-year Practical Nursing program combines classroom instruction with clinical experience. (Clinical times may vary.) The course of study meets the requirements of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN). A Technical Certificate is offered through this program. After graduation, students are eligible to take the National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX) administered by the ASBN to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Practical Nursing applicants convicted of a crime may not be eligible to meet program requirements for selection nor be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN. See the Nurse Practice Act §17-87-312 Criminal Background Checks at →.

Classes are attended Monday through Friday. Students attend classes at ASUN Jonesboro Campus and/or Marked Tree Campus. Students will do clinical rotations at different sites, so dependable transportation is needed.

ASUN has one fall nursing class starting in August at the Jonesboro Campus and two in the spring starting in January, one at the Jonesboro Campus and one at the Marked Tree Campus.
