NEWPORT (Ark.) –  Arkansas State University System President Dr. Charles L. Welch announced today that two candidates will interview for the position of chancellor at Arkansas State University-Newport.

Arkansas State University-Newport is honored to be represented by such distinguished alumni, faculty, staff and students. At the 2020 Arkansas Community Colleges Fall Virtual Conference, four individuals were honored for their success and dedication to ASU-Newport.

An Arkansas State University-Newport at Jonesboro welding student is the recipient of the 2020 Tech Talent Scholarship.

 Arkansas State University-Newport’s Chancellor will retire at the end of 2020 after seven years of service. 

In a time of uncertainty, it is more important than ever to stay connected. Throughout 2020, ASU-Newport faculty and staff found creative ways to “visit” one another virtually. From virtual 5ks to Zoom picnics, technology granted us the ability to stay engaged while working from home.

Patrick Patterson, of Jonesboro, is the first recipient of the Noah Reeves Scholarship. The Arkansas State University-Newport Noah Reeves Scholarship is an institutional scholarship designed to assist ASUN students who have faced adversity while trying to reach their academic goals. 

In the spring, ASU-Newport postponed its commencement ceremonies in hopes of holding in-person celebrations in the fall. Because of the rise in COVID-19 cases across Arkansas, ASUN's leadership team decided a virtual ceremony would be the safest way to honor the 2020 Spring and Summer gradua

Arkansas State University-Newport’s Fall 2020 term will begin August 24, 2020. This is a one-week postponement from the originally planned start date of August 17, 2020.
