Getting Started at ASU Newport in a Just a Few Easy Steps

Step 1 : Application (time 15-25 minutes)

First we need to fill out the application for ASU Newport. It is a simple click on the link www.asun.edu/application  and enter your information. Next submit the following to finish the application process.

Submit Official High School Transcript OR GED scores (Only if you are a recent high school graduate)
Submit proof of two (2) Measles, Mumps and Rubella injections (MMRs)
Submit ACT, ASSET, or COMPASS scores(Only if have not completed Freshman English I and College Algebra)
Submit Official College transcripts from ALL colleges attended

Once you have successfully completed the application continue to step 2.

Step 2 : Money For College

If seeking Financial Aid or scholarships in most cases a FASFA (Federal Application for Student Aid) is needed. To apply for the FASFA please have all of your tax forms and possible your parent’s information as well if you filed as a dependent on your Federal Income Tax Forms. This will take about thirty minutes to complete. Click here to access the FASFA site. If apply for federal aid at ASUN a Data Form is needed. Fill out a Data Form and submit it to any of our three campuses.

Step 3 : Assessment

ASUN offers many programs on each of the three campuses specializing in a specific area such as Nursing, Computer Information and Advanced Manufacturing. Assess the different paths that you can take and which program suits your needs as well as your goals for life.

Step 4 : Student Orientation, Advising

Schedule a date for orientation and get advised. When you get advised, you will sit down with a professor or a registrar and setup your path while at ASU Newport. Also while you are at orientation you will receive a student ID, student E-mail address, and possibly free stuff! To activate your email

Activate Email:

  • You will need your 4-digit graduation year and your ASU Newport ID number
  • Click here (a new window will open)
  • Read the COMPUTER & NETWORK USER GUIDELINES policy and ACCEPT or DON’T ACCEPT  and then SUBMIT.
  • Input information FIRST NAME, LAST NAME,STUDENT ID (no dashes), CREATE PASSWORD and FOUR DIGIT GRADUATION YEAR.
  • Your email address will be in the format of:     First_Last@nsmail.asun.edu  (This will be your your login for our computers and portal.

Step 5 : Payment

Do not forget to stop by Financial Aid, if paying out of pocket please stop by Student Accounts to setup a payment plan. If a payment plan is not established by the second week of class and the student is not seeking Financial Aid the student may be dropped from classes.
