Year-Round Pell Process

Arkansas State University – Newport defines its academic year for financial aid purposes as 24 hours. Beginning with the 2009-2010 academic year, students may be eligible for up to two scheduled awards (200%) per year of Pell grants. For the summer of 2010, ASUN will pay Pell grants from the 2009-2010 year (as a “trailer”) during the transition period for the new Pell grant awards.

Students who were enrolled in the 2009 fall semester full time (12 hours or more) and 2010 spring semester fulltime (12 hours or more)and received a Pell grant, may be eligible for summer Pell.

  • Students must have met Satisfactory Progress Guidelines by completing at least 8 hours with a 2.00 grade point average in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Students must be enrolled in 6 or more hours during the summer terms.
  • Students may be required to enroll in more than 6 hours depending upon cumulative hours.
