V-Belts & Chains

I.M.Woman

Sounds like a scene from a horror movie, but you'd be surprised how important these are for today's industrial environment.

First of all, this has been a crazy week in Industrial Maintenance.  I took the final exam in Math and Industrial Maintenance courses, and we begin new classes Monday!

In the I.M. lab, we looked at various chains and installation of V-Belts.  We learned the proper installation and uses for belts and chains, and we explored when you would use a belt instead of a chain.

V-Belts

In the example above, we had to learn the various signs of wear and when needed to change them.  One of these is good, and the other two had to be replaced.  Can you tell the difference between the good and bad belts?

Various Brakes, Chains, Motor Boxes

We also looked at various motor boxes, gears, reducers, brakes, and clutches. We were able to see how all of the various parts work together.

I can't believe how much I've learned in this program.  Starting Monday, we learn about Trade Skills and Industrial Hydraulic Principals.

Tamesia is an Industrial Maintenance (I.M.) Woman in the Industrial Maintenance program.  Learn more about the Industrial Maintenance program, and see if you could be Industrial Maintenance Technician.
