ASUN to Offer Off-Campus Adult Education Classes

NEWPORT, Ark. (2-5-2014) — The Arkansas State University-Newport Adult Education department is offering classes at three off-campus locations to serve the citizens of Jackson, Poinsett and Woodruff Counties.

The classes are designed as GED prep classes and skills review classes for college or career advancement.  The core areas offered are reading, math, and language, with computer literacy and employability skills offered in conjunction.  All of the classes are free and open to the public.

Classes will be offered at the following locations and times:

ASUN’s Newport Campus

Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Newport Village Mall

Monday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Jacksonport City Hall

Monday from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Swifton Abiding Faith Church

Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Tuckerman United Methodist Church

Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Jackson County Library, Newport

Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

McCrory Housing Authority

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

McCrory High School

Monday and Tuesday from 4:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.

ASUN’s Marked Tree Campus

Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Trumann Adult Education Center

Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Classes will run until May and follow the regular ASUN school calendar.
